Why no sequel?

I always wondered why they never made another movie.
The title including "The Dog's Tale" always seemed to me like there'd be another Footrot Flats movie with another subtitle. It had a small budget, and seemed to do good business.

Was there ever talk of another one back in the day? Seems like there could be a story there.
