How to I get it to work.

How do you get this bloody game to work. When I install it it brings up a message about my CD speed or the buffers. I have Windows XP. Can any one help me get this game running? I have had it for 2 years and I still can't play it. I can't take it any more.

P.S. Please don't tell me I need to run it on a computer lower than an XP because that's not my problem.

I am having the same problem as you.I bought it in 1998 and have played today only half of the game. Its true that it crashes during the installation in XP.I didn't find a solution, but i am close to one i believe.
Try using a virtual DOS simulator like e.g. "DOSBOX". you can find it for free on Abandonia.com . The only (and Biggest) problem is that it can use only one virual drive so far. that means you can select dosbox for the cd drive to install the game , but are unable to select your harddisk to actually install the game. But that sands only for the version i have found so far. i truly believe that in the near future they will have an upgraded version of this emulator so we can enjoy this great game! If you found anything else, please let me know....

Why do you guys even care? This game is old

What's your point, just because a game is old doesn't mean its bad. Like the previous poster mentioned you'll probably need to use something like dosbox to get it working nowadays. You can mount folder as a cd drive in dosbox, the command you need to enter is something like.

mount -t cdrom <driveletter you want to assign folder to> <folder location on your machine>

So if you want to mount the folder c:\startrek to the d: drive as a cd in dosbox the command would be

mount -t cdrom d c:\startrek

to assing a normal folder to a drive letter in dosbox the command is

mount <drive letter you want to assign the folder to in dosbox> <location of folder you want to assign on your machine>

So if you wanted to assign the folder c:\unity to the c drive in dos box the command is

mount c c:\unity

Hope this is enough to get you going

areddyster that's a stupid attitude to have. A Final Unity is one of the best if not THE best Star Trek game ever.

Well I finaly got it to work on my sisters computer and all I have to say is WOW! Final Unity is the best Star Trek game i've ever played. It's like a Star Trek game made by Sierra Online or Lucas Arts. It does crash once on a while though.

Dosbox cures all. You might have to tweak a few of the dosbox settings but there are guides on how to do that. Google is your friend.
