Just finished watching it **warning: spoilers**

My younger daughter and I just snuggled up to watch this. What a strange little movie. I wanted to like it, I really did, especially when I nailed the fact that the star actress is from Jurassic Park. Yee haw. However it fell apart from there. There were a lot of questions and unfinished thoughts. Like for instance...we didn't catch on for a while that the mother had died (until my daughter accidentally rewound the movie and we had to watch the part where she reads the letter again actually). And was there a point to Alistair? I thought he'd be more of a love interest or a confidante or ally or heck, even a rival or a poacher. But he was pretty pointless. And she goes from barely riding to riding a wild stallion bareback? Really? And wouldn't you think they'd show the animals being freed once the poachers are foiled? You never see them again and believe me, my five year old needed to see that part of the story with a happy ending. And where did the horse come from anyway? And what is his connection to the old man? They could have just met and shared the mountain except the final scene makes it seem like Fergus had some larger connection to the horse...maybe a circus trainer who left the circus with the stallion or something? The horse seemed to be responding to his commands with the staff.

All in all, it really had potential, but it fell flat. And most importantly, my kid is still upset about the Fawn. And it's 10 PM. Not good, folks.
