The Oval Protrait

I can't find The Oval Protait on IMDb. It has nearly all the same cast & crew as One Minute Before Death, but an entirely different story. Both are based on stories by Edgar Allan Poe. Both are copyrighted by Platinum Productions Inc 1988. Any idea where I can find this on IMDb?

The credits on the back The Oval Protrait VHS reads:

Northwest Motion Picture Corporation an Apple Leaf International Pictures Ltd. present Edgar Allan Poe's "The Oval Portait"
Starring Gisele Mackenzie, Wanda Hendrix, Barry Coe
Music by Les Baxter
Produced by Enrique Torres Tudela
Directed by Rogelio Gonzales, Jr.

The story on the back of The Oval Portrait VHS reads:

Edgar Allan Poe's haunting tale of love from beyond the grave comes to life in this chilling adapatation of his most popular short story. Set during the civil war, The Oval Portrait concerns two star-crossed lovers: Rebecca, the gorgeous daughter of a brutally strict Union officer; and Joseph, a wounded Confederate soldier. With her father away at war, Rebecca nurses the handsome soldier back to health - and in turn he paints her a beautiful oval portrait. They secretly marry, only to have the wedding stopped by Union soldiers who recapture Joseph. When Rebecca's father returns to find her carrying the child of a Confederate, he makes good his word and throws her out of the house. Rebecca and her unborn baby lose their lives; her father loses his mind. But when Joseph returns at the end of the war, he finds that love does not end with life in the shocking conclusion of The Oval Protrait.
Running Time: 89 Minutes

Contrast this to the story on the back of the One Minute Before Death VHS, which reads:

For Genevive, there is nothing worse than the fear of being buried alive. You see, everyone things Genevive is dead - but she's not. After a nasty tumble down the stairs, Genevive can't move or speak or even blink her bright eyes ... all she can do is stare out of her open coffin and watch her "loved ones" reveal their true colors. Tolerating her sisters' cattiness is one thing, but when Genevive discovers her husband's murderous infidelity, she decides that coming back from the grave for a little revenge might be just what the doctor ordered.
Running Time: 84 Minutes

You are entirely right, THE OVAL PORTRAIT and ONE MINUTE BEFORE DEATH are totally different movies, in spite of similar crew and cast. They were apparently shot back-to-back. To my knowledge both were released on VHS many years ago and sometime surface on eBay or similar sites.
You'll find additional informations about each movie on this webmag (pages 10 & 11)

I just managed to watch 'the oval portrait' on u tube, and it was the laugh riot I was expecting!
I was expecting it because the writer (sharing his credit with some hack named Poe) is none other than Enrique Torres Tudela of 'terror in the jungle' fame. I urge anyone to seek that film out.
and an added bonus is to discover that 'one minute before death' is a completely different movie!

Haven't seen ''One Minute Before Death'', but Heaven help it if it's anywhere near as pathetic as ''The Oval Portrait''.

reply

Pathetic is right. This has to be one of the most boring movies ever made. A play put on by first graders would be better than this crap fest.

Well, t be honest, I thought it was fair.
