Kron and Bruton

Ever notice how big Kron and Bruton noses are?
Although they are officially classified as Iguanadon (from DVD special features and from other resources) they look little different than Aldar and other Iguanadon from the herd. Kron and Bruton were practically ONLY Iguanadon that has big nose, and I've been wondering why other Iguanadon doesn't have big nose. I wonder if it's has something to do with the age, since they are older than Aladar and Neera. Also their skin are grey/brownish color, compare to Aldar light blue skin.

I wanted to see how Aladar look like with big nose.

Each Iguanodon character was based on a different sub-species of Iguanodon to give them different silhouette in the dark. Plus, I'm sure that not everyone would be able to point out Kron from Aladar if it weren't for the differences in appearance.
David Krentz (lead production designer for Dinosaur, and their paleontological consultant) stated that he loves the fact that individual members of dinosaurs species have subtle differences in their facial features, like we do.

I once read something abouy an Iguanodon species with a bump on its nose like Kron and Bruton, called I. orientalis, but now I can't find anything about it, not even as a currently invalid species, junior synonym, nomen dubium or whatever. I'm getting the feeling they just based that feature off Muttaburrasaurus, an Australian relative of Iguanodon (the big green dinosaurs in the Antarctica episode of Walking With Dinosaurs).

Still, couldn't it be age-related in the film? According to the information book, Aladar is supposed to be (the dinosaur equivalent of) 18, and Kron and Bruton are obviously much older. You'll notice that some of the background Iguanodon look to be somewhere between Aladar and these two, having dark green skin and a slight bump on their nose.

I always thought that Kron and Bruton looked different because they were MUCH older then the rest of the Iguanodon's. If you looked at Bruton compared to Aladar when Aladar tried to help Bruton into the cave when he was hurt, Burton is noticably larger then Aladar. And that's why the ridges on Kron's and Bruton's noses looked different then the other's, because the other Iguanodon's noses have yet to become more pronounced due to age.

Plus that's why the whole herd was following Kron and Bruton while trying to get to the nesting grounds. They were both older, and because they both had made the journey many times before, whereas the others have not.

I always thought that Bruton was older then Kron, by observing that Bruton's skin looked more weathered, and if you noticed the teeth on each dino looked more...used? I don't know if that's the correct word. Bruton's looked yelllowed and aged, but Kron's were starting to get that way as well. And Aladar's were still white and strong.

I don't that was always my opinion when I watch the movie.

To make them look more intimidating, and it may be an aging factor in the universe of the film. Note how young Aladar is, and Bruton and Kron seem to be significantly older. I always thought Bruton was older than Kron on that note.
