Forgive me if this question is ignorant, but I couldn't find an answer online. There is a scene in this film where the German woman starts to go down on the Jewish woman, but the Jewish woman stops her---clearly because she doesn't want her lover to find out she's Jewish. But why? Do Jewish women have some sort of circumcision like men? What about her private parts would give her away as a Jew? This part of the movie really puzzled me.

Well, I believe it has nothing to do with her (Felice) being jewish, she probably wasn't in the mood, or thought Lily's attitude was inopportune or forceful.
Maybe anyone else has some other thoughts on this.
By the way, it's good people are posting on A & J's board, this wonderful film is so understimated...

i think its a great movie....actually it is one of my favorite movie...pardon me if i drag this irrelavent, but i really want to know if there is any charateristic..say..like facial features that you can tell Jewish apart from other Gaucasian people? I remember a scence in American Pie III, the Grandma observes a girl and tells with certainty, "she's not Jewish'. How to tell?

There are stereotypical differences such as the fact that jews have big noses or darker coloring but nothing in a jewish women's gentalia is different.

Caucasian is a typical American terminology which is - sorry to say so - as stupid and anachronistic as Aryan is. Both date back to theories to find the origins ("Urheimat") of the Proto-Indo-European language, which was the predecessor of most European, Persian and Indian languages. Scolar claimed that linguistic origin ist the same as ethnic origin. You will nowaday hardly find any Europeans who consider himself "Caucassian" or "Iranian" (Iran means "Land of the Aryans")
For instance Americans (mostly) speak English , which is a Germanic language, does it mean they are Germanic?
hmmm...I am Chinese in Beijing, so not quite understand the caucasian question--guess in the States, ethnity cannot be easily differiated amongst the caucasian thanks to make-ups...like..hmm.. i cannot tell Madonna is actually Italian when she looks blond..but sort of sure shes from south Euro when she grows her hair dark...

Yeah, I thought that was odd, considering the actress (Alyson Hannigan) from American Pie is best known for her character on Buffy, Willow Rosenberg, a girl who's Jewish.
I do not mean this in any offensive way, since some people are more sensitive than others, but.. my take on a "jewish look" is this: "Jewish people" have a common ancestry, but they also can be Russian Jewish, Italian Jewish, etc. So they can look a number of different ways. I go to a school where a third of the students are from the East Coast, a lot of them Jewish. If you have seen a great number of Jewish people, you pick up on common traits. HOWEVER, they do NOT apply to all peole. There are people who turn out to be Jewish that I never would have guessed based on them not having any of these "common traits." So I agree that it can be dangerous to say Jewish people stereotypically look like this or that. I am of Italian and Lebanese descent and many people think I'm Jewish, especially when I dye my hair (its naturally dark blonde). Lebanon is in the Middle East, so this isn't that farfetched of a guess, but most people havent spent time around less common ethnicities and don't know who is what. I think this leads to a lot of stereotypes.
Off topic (sort of): Does anyone know about the girl on the Sopranos? Jamie Lynn? I am having a fight with my friend as to whether she's Jewish... I thought I read somewhere her saying that she "wasn't Italian at all, she was 100% Cuban."
Alyson Hannigan is Jewish as is Jamie Lynn Sigler. AH's mother is Jewish and JLS's father is Jewish. Her mother is Cuban. She converted to Judaism. As for looking Jewish (or what we understand to mean looking Jewish), some Jews do. Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, David Krumhotlz, Adam Sandler, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sarah Silverman, and Jami Gerz are all identifiably Jewish to me. Gwyneth Paltrow is not, but she is a Jew. So are Paula Abdul, Jennifer Connelly, and Harrison Ford and zillions of others.

I have not seen the film, but I know something about Jewish customs.
A very religious Jewish woman would not have sex unless it was totally after her period AND she had been to the "mikveh," a symbolic cleansing bath. (A person goes to the mikveh also before getting married, after being a pallbearer, and to complete a conversion to Judaism from some other religion).

Ok, lets be serious and presume you are Chinese:
Most Jews you'll see in movies will be descendands of Ashkenasims from Eastern Europe living in the States. There physical apearance should be a mix of central european and oriental/semitic features (some scolars also claim a notable turkish/asian influence form the Khazar Empire in eastern Europe). "Ashkenasim" is originaly the Hebrew word for "Germans", theire original language -Yiddish - is an old german dialect with strong influences of slavic, hebrew and latin vocabulary.
Northern Europeans tend to be "taller", "more blond or red haired", "more blue eyed", with a "whiter skin" and "smaller nose" than Orientals. I'm putting this all in parentheses because a lot of people tend to misuse these attributes for obscure political theories.
To give you an example, my best friend (black hair, brown eyes) has a German father and a Lebanese (i.e. Arabic) mother. On hollidays people (mainly Isrealis and Americans) often ask him if he's Yewish even starting to speak Hebrew with him. Paradoxly his father had black hair but was an officer of the Wehrmacht with a "Aryan certificate" while his mother (who he met after war) has brunette hair and light brown eyes and is normally considered to be a French lady.
So be better cautious using hollywood productions to learn about western ethnic groups, these Californian stereotypes are optimized for best acceptance in the American market!!!
Maybe it helps to know that there is a statistically high number of plastic surgery of the noses of teenage girls in the States to adapt to common (i.e. Hollywood) beauty ideal. When getting 16 year old, Jewish girls want a smaller nose, while Asian girls desperately ask for a bigger one.

If you read the book, you can see that the first night they were intimate Aimee was quite timid. The next night, however, Aimee was going for gold, so to speak, and Jaguar was shocked and unsure about her new confidence so she told her to stop. Jaguar was afraid that Aimee would regret "turning lesbian" and start to resent her or leave her for good. I know it's hard when you don't know about Judaism, but women do not have anything different on any part of their body due to their ancestry/religion. Just to make that perfectly clear!

No, Jewish women have no circumcision. To be precise there are African tribes claiming to be of Jewish descent, mainly in Ethiopia, also in South Africa. [*] Since the "Pharaonic circumcision" of women is widespread in Africa, maybe you can find circumcised Jewish girls over there.
BTW: Male circumcision is widespread in Muslim and US American populations.

Felice, who was admittedly a very free person, had been making out with another woman, not two seconds before her lover walked in. Keeping in mind that Felice has had a pretty crap life recently, I can't say I blame her for having a little fun. ;) When they finally go to bed, Lilly starts off caressing her but basically starts to manhandle her. It was quite uncomfortable because she was pawing her, desperate for Felice to prove her love. At that particular moment she is being needy and aggressive, neither of which comes off as sexy. Felice loved Lilly but at that moment she had much more important things on her mind.
