Why is Mickey being mocked by the 5.8 rating? As far as romantic comedies that spoof gangster films go I aint seen better. The restaurant scene, "GED OUTTA HEEEEEEEEEEEEE", is hilarious. There are certain parts of this film that made me laugh more than most films of recent years. Maybe I was the only one.

Good question. This is one of my favorite comedies and one of the few movies that makes me laugh out loud. My favorite scene is the whole steakhouse, dropping the gun on the way in, trying to order, running into his boss, leaves me in tears I'm laughing so hard.

SG-1SWlover85; would it not be advisable for you to drop your slightly hypocritical tagline?

SG-1SWlover aside, this movie was largely enjoyable and Hugh Grant made the film (e.g. although I prefer many other British actors like Clive Owen, Tim Roth or Gary Oldman; they would not have carried the comedy so well). The restaurant scene was hilarious.

I just watched the steak house scene, it is one of my favourite scenes from a movie ever. So hilarious.

It's certainly a lot funnier than most other US mainstream comedies over the last 10 years. I gave it 8 out of 10.

I know! That was so funny! I laughed extremely hard because of this movie, I don't laugh very hard when it comes to movies, and most of the time when I find things funny I smile, or make a slight sound. This made me crack up soooo bad! I loved this movie!

reply

This film is awesome!!! I think there is only 1 film that I have thought was funnier and that is The Life Of Brian but yes the restuarant scene was top class.I dont know if there is a funnier scene in any film.

just shows how much rating is worth on imdb, you give this 10, what would you give a good Kubrick or Kurosowa movie? also 10? and would that 10 be equal to the 10 you gave to this movie? DINK ABOUDIIIIT!

like i said, if everyone is goin to give 10 just so the average of your favourite movie could get higher, then the ratings on imdb are worth *beep* anymore, thanks for being part of the deterioration of this site

you actually gave a 10 to a movie that's very boring when you try to watch it a second time? i rest my case :x

I have seen this flick several times and like it a lot.
I still catch myself trying to do the accent when caan is trying to teach it to him. I can not do it to save me. I probably sound as odd as hugh did.

I have to agree with a lot of people and say that the scene in the steakhouse and the part before that in the car when James Caan is trying to teach Hugh Grant to speak like an Italian American totally made the movie.

I realize that Hugh Grant is often criticized for playing the same character in every movie and I guess I have to agree to a certain extent, but I thought he was really funny in those two scenes that I mentioned before. I couldn't stop laughing!

reply

I couldn't stop laughing either! 'Get outta heeee' Lol!

reply

The highest any movie on the IMDb can get is a 9.9, because someone will not vote 10.

Which means, theoretically, no film is perfect (even if it is The Godfather or something).

reply

This is the best Hugh Grant movie I have ever seen. I gave it 8!!!
the 4 weddings and a funeral was so stupid. I stopped it after 15 minutes.
Sense and sensibility was just so slow. Seeing old English country side w slow conversation was so boring!

I lived in NY for 10 years and was married to an Italian, I simply loved all the
funny things about Italian Americans. I love this movie as much as "Mambo Italiano".
I recommend this movie if you like Italian humor.

reply

2/10 tops... Dude it's not in the same class as Mambo Italiano.

reply

I give it an 8 out of 10. Just reading your post is literally making me laugh out loud thinking about him attempting the accent.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

Can someone tell me whats the thing about funny accents of italo-americans? do they change the "t" for "d"?
I saw the movie in spanish and the translation wasnt very funny on that.
Any examples, please?
