Saw it recently but missed the beginning! argh

This movie looked great, and after seeing the end really made me question the issues raised within the movie. But only started watching it when M.J is talking to Tracey in what looks like the park-though I didn't actually listen to anything that they were saying because I was just trying to figure out whether that was rachel leigh cook!
So what had happened up to that point? I can guess pretty much what happened but still...
I'm also trying to get a hold of a copy of this film, though being in the UK will probably make it hard to get it (though it's probably rare in the US too!).
It's also nice to see Rachel Leigh Cook play a troubled character so well, it changed my opinion of her straight away, as I'd only seen her in She's all that, but her role as the depressed young teen dealing with a rape ordeal from her childhood really stood out in the movie.
Anyone else want to comment on the movie? I'm surprised to see so many votes yet no messages on the message board!
