Clayton is my favorite character...

in the HH series. Does that make me odd? Granted, he only had a short amount of screentime (i'd say a good 25 minutes and only 35 lines). However, there are so many things I love him. His ultimate kindness is one very special thing. While Hether and Cleaveland (the bastards...but I love them) teased him on his first day, Clayton was warm and took good care of Horatio. Let's not forget the ultimate sacrifice he made. Am I nuts? Am I the only one who likes Clayton?

BTW, I have seen almost every episode (save eight, I'm watching seven) and while I find most of the men incredibly sexy. I still believe Archie, Clayton, Bush and Lieutenant Eccleston are the sexiest.

You're not odd, I like clayton too .He was a nice man , the first( with Archie )to be kind to Horatio.
In your list of sexy men add Pellew.

Well Pellew really doesn't need an introduction. I think everyone KNOWS he is very sexy. BTW, Robert Lindsay (Pellew) is also a terrific stage actor/singer. Just adds to the sex appeal.

Anyway, I'm glad you don't find me odd. Clayton has a rather small fanbase, as most people such as Archie or Bush have a larger fanbase simply because they had a larger role.

Clayton fan here! I saw him as a kind of father figure to Hornblower, when he first boarded the ship and was seasick and looked out for him. Such a shame he never got the chance to serve on a frigate...grrr evil Jack Simpson!

Exactly. Just as Archie was a brother figure to Horatio, Clayton was the father type role. Protecting him and making sure no physical harm would ever come to him. Simpson is evil...Simply evil.

Clayton to me was more an older brother, Pellew was the father figure.

I've seen the first 4 films and so far my favorite characters, apart from Hornblower himself of course, are Matthews, Cap. Pellew, Archie and I also liked Major Edrington in The Wrong War (Lobsters & Frogs). Among the very few female characters there are, I found the "Duchess" to be the most interesting and sexy
