A Masterpiece

I cannot think of enough accolades for this production, it's perfect in every way. To think it was done live with a score by the greatest Broadway song writing team of all time boggles the mind. This shows why the 50's and 60's were TV's golden age. We have nothing now like this and if we did would people watch it?

reply

People are watching today, in 2006.

Whether or not they could get an audience of 107 million, or comparable percentage of TV watchers, is another story.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

I agree that this was perfect. It REALLY was.

There have been live versions of The Sound of Music on both sides of the pond. (UK version was so much better.)

I think it’s far from perfect, but still delightful and a huge undertaking and accomplishment for the period.
