commercials

I'm kind of sad that the dvd cut out the live advertisements of the program. Sure the pepsi and coffee ones didn't matter all that much, but there were a few moments (that are on the kinescope version at the museum) that kind of added to the feeling of watching a television broadcast of a live show, such as the pause for station syncing at intermission. Most sad is the disappearance of the Pepsi announcer reminding all that impossible things happen every day at the end. I have this show on videotape too (a bootleg someone leaked out of the museum I imagine) and actually prefer it to the dvd because while the quality is definately inferior, the including of these missing elements makes the program more enjoyable.

There was also a commercial aired advertising the Soundtrack Album, which went on sale the next day.

They could at least have kept them as an alternative option on the DVD. Though I can understand that the ads are not part of the artistic concept of the musical.
