On Manchevski: 'I hope he stays in Hollywood jail for a long, long time'

Just flipped through an old issue of Entertainment Weekly and found part of an article on the RAVENOUS debacle (as well as problems on various other films in production at the time, including ENTRAPMENT and SUPERNOVA) that led to original director Milcho Manchevski being turfed. It doesn't go into much detail but unnamed members of the production team were apparently quite relieved to see him go. "I hope he stays in Hollywood jail for a long, long time", says one, quoted in the piece (and metaphorically speaking, of course), while another, quite content working under Manchevski's replacement Antonia Bird, says "With Milcho, the set was heavy and untenable. Now it's going on like a house on fire. The whole atmosphere has changed." While it's too bad that the film ultimately tanked at the boxoffice regardless of behind-the-scenes shenanigans, it would be interesting to learn more about what went wrong on Manchevski's first studio picture. According to the article, he told friends he'd never go through the studio system again, and so far, he seems to have kept his word. Curious stuff . . .

He didn't want to eat the human casserole served on the set and was making people very uncomfortable because of it.

Well, according to his IMDb page, looks like Milcho Manchevski has apparently rebounded quite nicely from his Hollywood debacle.
