Could have been as dark and unsettling as The Burrowers except...

... for that damn sound track and the intermediate cartoony persona of Colqhoun-not-yet-Ives.

The sequel set up was disappointing and shallow as well.

Burrowers doesn't hold a candle to this.

I haven't seen "The Burrowers", so I really can't compare the two, however this movie is nothing short of brilliant IMO.

The soundtrack is at times a bit annoying, but I also find it refreshingly original, and somehow it suits the movie. I can't really explain why.

Besides, I think it is important to bear in mind that Ravenous is not an ordinary horror movie. It is first and foremost a dark comedy.

Haven't seen The Burrowers either. But I thought the soundtrack, with a few exceptions, asn't very good and not really suited to the film for the most part (and I usually love Michael Nyman's work; indeed I own a couple of his soundtracks). I think the most successful parts were strongly reminiscent of the "...Cuckoo's Nest" theme though the whole thing was mixed to almost ear-splitting levels.

Been meaning to watch Ravenous for years, finally just did; I thought it was decent but nothing special. I can see why people love it, though.

This could have been as beautifully dark and disturbing as Bone Tomahawk but with Wendigos... But sadly not.
