Honestly, I was stunned at the relatively high rating (7.1) it had when I saw it here. It's obviously appreciated by a lot of people. I was expecting the low 6s or even high 5s. So this rating pleased me.
shareI agree... it's absolutely underrated. I don't think it got much time in the theaters, or didn't play in many theaters, because it seems like hardly anyone's ever heard of it. I rented it back in '99 and it immediately became a favorite of mine. It's a very original and well done movie. Unfortunately, when you try to talk people into watching it though, you always have to explain what its about... which almost always turns people off and they want to watch something else.

I totally agree. One of my all time favorites. And not just "underrated", but also "under-appreciated". Love this film.

I remember when this movie had 6.2 rating, 2-3 years ago when I visited the page. But, if experience taught me is how *beep* rating can be, especially here on IMDB.
