Human only species that kill each other?

Why did he say that in the movie? anyone with a decent knowledge knows that this is wrong. Did he actually say this in real life or is this just editet into the movie?

Apart from humans, the only animals known to kill for reasons other than survival (defending territory, fighting over females, for food etc) are chimpanzees and bottlenose dolphins. Both of these species have been documented killing other animals for what can only be described as "fun".

Chimps (whch are apes, like us, not monkeys) have been known to attack younger chimps and small monkeys for no obvious reason. Bottlenose dolphiins have been seen attacking baby whales and other dolphins.

reply

Chimpanzees are a species actually more malicious than us. It may not appear like that at first glance, but then you have to take into account society (where we aren't born into a group that depends on each other to survive like hunter-gatherers) and how much we outnumber chimpanzees.

reply

Bears will often kill their young for no good reason. I have seen many documentaries on this. I have seen reports of dogs killing other dogs for no good reason, even when territory or such was not an issue. While their are examples of species that are not as violent as others, it is a fallacy to state that humans are the only species that kill each other. Not sure why he would go there.

reply

I think it's merely ignorance of the writers.

and orca whales. kill and eat...like the Donners yum yum;)

reply

I was wondering the same thing. I really wish someone could come up with a good answer, but like someone else said I think it was just ignorance, but you would think someone would straighten them out before it was put on screen.

Yeah, that made no sense at all to me. Animals kill their own kind all the time.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

reply

I recently heard humans are the only species that will risk their lives to save other members of their own species who are not related.

I think too many people idealize animals. I love animals. Why? They taste delicious. And I believe in animal rights. They have the right to be seasoned.

reply

I've always had pets and I can't imagine life without them. Lord knows they make better companions and friends than other humans because they don't stab you in the back.

I love Robert Patrick Gunton Jr.

reply

You realise that in your last few sentences you completely objectify animals, which does in fact put you beneath them and justify the opinions of those who validate animals and believe in their rights, right? Or did this obviously illogical self-jerk session blind you to things that aren't self serving stupidity?

reply

I don't disagree with your premise, but keep in mind that a dolphin attacking a whale or a chimp attacking a monkey is analogous to a human attacking a chimp, not to a human attacking another human. So those examples are irrelevant. However, I agree that there are plenty of animals that kill their own kind.

reply

Humans are the only species that will insult each other.

reply

Maybe, maybe not. It's not clear how intricate whale and dolphin language is, for example, so who knows whether it contains any insults. And those birds can sound awful angry sometimes. Plus, animals like cats and rabbits definitely have ways of expressing what a $hit they think you are with their body language or sounds when they're upset with you.

reply

So when a whale says "MuraROOWERahhWAOO!" He could be saying, "Your mother was a whaleshark!"
