really good film

its so so funny from start to finish-one of those classic movies where everything that could go wrong does go wrong, and my god how i love these kind of films. this film was great-not the best i've ever seen i will admit, but it was good all the same!

It was brilliant! John Cleese is an absolute legend. The bit where he dresses up has to be the best bit of the film

reply

Ya, it was good.

The casting of John Cleese as the hotal manager was a stroke of genius and he was the best thing about the film...I wish the rest of the film could have been as funny as Cleese was.

I LOve It

It was funny, why are people saying it was bad?

reply

different than the first, both funny.
If I just get you a cracker you'll be filled with hope again.

Steve going on his "trip" in Central Park was pretty funny.

reply

I think it's hilarious. ;)

This movie pissed me off.

Maybe because it wasn't that great, but more probably because I was forced to see it when I was visiting family in the States after learning that The Matrix wasn't parted 13+ there.

Yeah, so I only ended up seeing the Matrix when it came out on video casette. FU, Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn! I missed seeing that flick on the big screen because of you!

I must say I quite like this film, there were parts that made me chuckle. Like the dog chasing scene. Martin and Hawn having rumpy pumpy in the park and getting caught with his trousers down, Cleese dancing to Bad Girls to name but a few. One of Martin's better movies IMO. Still the truely excellent Planes, Trains & Automobiles flying the flag though.

I don't understand why so many people hated this movie. I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe I was just in the mood to laugh, or maybe the characters reminded me so much of my parents that I was having way too much fun watching them go through such an ordeal.Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn complement each other perfectly. They should be a team like Hepburn and Tracy, and I couldn't stop laughing when I saw John Cleese dancing in those leppard skin shoes. What a high kick! He still hasn't lost it from the Faulty Towers days.I think people should just enjoy it and stop looking to find fault all the time.

This film doesn't stand up well over time but I still think it is hilarious. There are some parts that just strain belief but overall, the pace is fast enough that you don't think about it too much.
My absolutely favorite part of the movie was the scene where they first arrive in NYC and Steve Martin instructs Goldie Hawn how to walk like a New Yorker. The idea is that they won't be immediately identified as Rubes from the sticks (Ohio). Then immediately, they are scammed and mugged!
There are two things that make me laugh hysterically about that scene. One is that Goldie Hawn still believes that she has just been mugged by Andrew Lloyd Weber, even as the guy runs off with her purse. The second is that within an hour of arriving in Paris, a guy tried to scam me and my traveling companion the same way, however without the gun!
My traveling companion was older than me and threw an absolute hissy fit that I wouldn't give the guy money - what kind of heartless beeyatch was I, anyway - and she could not believe that I would leave a fellow standing in the street when obviously, he was in financial distress and only I could help him. She really worked herself into a frenzy shouting at me for being heartless. Goldie Hawn was more charming. But now that I see this scene in the movie, I can't help but burst into laughter - Rubes, indeed!

...because if you are saying this movie is excellent and a perfect 10, then we can isolate you, identify the virus you have and potentially cure creative bankruptcy in Hollywood by vaccinating the audience that demands it.

Complete garbage compared to the original, and thus unnecessary. Steve Martin specializes in bad remakes these days.
