Aren't there frequent trains running between Boston and New York City?

Haven't seen this movie in awhile, so I don't remember why they had to rent a car to travel to NYC after they missed a train to get there. Of course it was another funny complication added into the plot, but thankfully in real life, someone should be able to get on the next train.

There's not really a frequent train between NYC to Boston like a subway. It's over 200 miles between the two cities, and it takes about 4 hours to get there by AmTrack. I say it's probably an hour and a half between each train. Probably it takes shorter with an express.

Yes, and interestingly, the bus station in Boston is adjacent to South Station (the usual way to get into the bus station is walk through the train station and along track 1) but at night, even buses are scarce.

I think they should have waited for the next train or taken the bus, but that wouldn't have been as good movie-wise.
