was I the only one who didn't enjoy this

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert!

I waited for weeks to get this on hold from the library- the only place I could get a copy. So disappointed. When David first starts talking I kept wondering what was wrong with my TV, his voice was all distorted. Then it hits me, he's driving on the left side of the car. He's supposed to be American. I know Rickman's a serious actor and probably listened to Stephen King interviews to get that Maine accent just right, but it was just awful. I would have much rather watched a movie about an english married couple rather than listened to that. Don't they have islands in the u.k.?

Worse yet was David's wardrobe. Blue baggy pants and a white t-shirt. I'm thinking a bunch of brits got together and said, "How does an American middle-aged man dress? I know! like Homer Simpson!"

And then the denouement- I figured it out when David says he brought the kid some blankets. And even if I didn't it wasn't much of a twist. Maybe I've watched too many movies like this or maybe it's a sign of the times but someone being gay isn't a shocking surprise. And if David was a lawyer how hard could it have been to get a divorce- and get all her money.

And what was on his lip at the end? Someone suggested it was a cut like he had been punched. I thought it was poison ivy or possible a cold sore. In any event at that point I didn't care about any of these people. Let them eat purple mushrooms!

yeah I watched it a few weeks ago too...way disappointed? If you're a fan of Alan Rickman and you haven't seen it, may I suggest Closetland?

lol. I think you are definitely right about the whole accent thing... He really didn't quite pull it off.

I didn't care about the accent- I was just glad they were in America. It must be hard for him to get around his Brit talk.
