You've Got Mail or Sleepless in Seattle

I used to really love SiS, but after watching it recently for the first time in years -- Annie was a straight-up stalker! It's incredibly creepy how she goes after him like that. Meg Ryan is a beauty and the audience knows that she's a sweet, intelligent woman, but Sam doesn't. Reverse the genders and it's a completely different kind of movie.

So I think YGM is better because (a) Kathleen and Joe lived in the same neighborhood and (b) they were in the same business and (c) socialized with the same people. They would have met eventually even if they hadn't met online. Much more organic than how things transpired in SiS (I think Sam would have been freaked out by Annie and everything that she did).

The soundtrack for SiS is better, though. I also preferred the supporting cast in SiS.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I prefer YGM to SIS by a mile. The music and supporting cast are two of the reasons I love YGM.

Interestingly, Nora Ephron's son, who did a documentary on her, stated that YGM was his favorite, of every movie she was involved in. I have a hunch that YGM was Nora's preference, too.

I prefer You've Got Mail to Sleepless In Seattle. It isn't even close. I like SIS but the main thing I like better is that the two main love interests are interacting with each other the entire film, for part neither is aware and for part Hank's character is aware but not Ryan's. I love all of the interaction and dialogue they have with each other and you see things slowly mount to their apex at the end.

SIS is one of those films where you spend the entire film waiting and hoping for them to meet only to have the film end the exact moment they do. We never even see them have one real conversation. I'm not a fan of that type of plot line.

I'd rather the movie go on 15 more minutes and to have some reward to seeing the two interact with each other.

You've got mail! They have so much chemistry in that show!! I want them to do another rom-com.

You've Got Mail by a country mile. I watched SIS for the first time recently and found it painfully boring.

YGM > SIS

I thought Meg Ryan's character in SIS was creepy, too. It was kind of eye roll inducing how she became infatuated with this man after only hearing him talk on the radio. In YGM they message each other and have more of a connection.

I actually love both of these movies. My favorite Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movies!

I can't believe the idiots on here saying You've Got Mail is better. Like really?? That movie was such a lame, overtly cutesy ripoff of SIS. And Meg Ryan looks like she's constipated the entire time, while Hanks sleepwalks.

Sleepless in Seattle is a classic and also earned Oscar nominations including for it's Original Screenplay. I guess everyone on here is under 18 and can't appreciate witty comedy. They need it spelled out for them.

Joe vs the Volcano! JK. For me it's SiS by a nose. Better soundtrack for sure. The roles were reversed in that SiS had Meg in the stalker role vs. Tom in YGM so it's a good formula for these two.

Meg was great in Joe vs. the Volcano.
