The cops beating Mike and Worm for cheating. Unrealistic?

We all know the famous tragic scene. Worm gets caught dealing from the bottom of the deck. The cops are none too happy and procede to beat Mike and Worm until they are bruised and bloody. Speaking for myself, I thought that was a little over the top and frankly, unrealistic. I can see keeping their money. I can see giving them a nice hard shove out the door and telling them never come back. But literally twenty guys beating them as badly as they did? I don't buy it.

Think about it. You've got their money, around 15K in cash, which ain't exactly peanuts. You've thrown them out of your house. In other words, you have everything you want. So what good is hurting your hand as you bash it into their skulls going to do? What's it going to accomplish? Anyone else think that part was a bit much?

I found that scene quite plausible. Cheating in a poker game is a pretty serious offense. I don't find it strange at all that the off duty cops beat the hell out of Mike and Worm. Go on LiveLeak and you can watch scores of videos of real life on duty cops beating up if not killing people for lesser transgressions. (BTW, I'm not anti-cop, it's just a fact of life.) http://imgur.com/KX3b0L0

You have a point that it's unrealistic. If they were real cops, Mike and Worm would have been riddled with bullet holes.

(They were coming right at us!!!)

What was unrealistic was that Mike and Worm got up and walked away with no issues.

A beating like that would kill human beings in Real Life.

Oh, as for the cops actually administering the beating, 100% realistic. Most cops are bullies and thugs (sad fact).

I was responding to Robmonster's comment that " most cops are bullies and thugs (sad fact)" and then you jumped in. Most aren't.
