Don't know much about poker so please go easy with my question...

In this movie, why do you have to know someone that knows someone that knows someone to get into a game?

For example, at the mansion with the trust fund guys where Worm and Mike cleaned house - Another example, is when they were playing with the policeman.

Thanks in advance.

Since underground games are illegal, they really only want known people and their guests attending. To be open to all the riff-raff is too risky.

There is no reason to believe the "trust fund" game or the police game are illegal. They are just private games and that is why you need to know someone. I'm not gonna let Joe Blow off the street come sit at my games.

Yeah, it's not about being illegal games it's about only playing with people you can trust.

its illegal if they have actual cash on the table, but most people are smart enough to use chips that represent cash or just write a check to each other at the end of the night. I know guys that play for 50k buy ins and lose 300k a night in a home game, in rancho santa fe, ca. yea these guys hire dealers and have loads of cash, ive tried to get in that game and could, but don't have the 50k loll
