Cuba Gooding Jr. Stands under the rain like an idiot, because Anthony Hopkins did so in the beginning and it was supposed to mean he had grown up or something.

Anthony Hopkins presumably returned to Africa to live with the monkeys. How he acquired a plane ticket and got through airport security is anyone's guess. Mine is that he killed a tourist and stole his papers.

As you may remember watching the film as the prisoners and guards are watching the ball game Ethan (Hopkin's character) is standing at the window working at the plaster with a pen. When the prisoner unplugs the TV and the gym goes into uproar mode Ethan has gotten the window open and escaped.

There's a scene change where Theo (Cuba Gooding's character) returns to the prison. He wants the warden's permission to speak with Ethan again. The warden informs him that Ethan has escaped and hands him a note saying "Here read this. It's to you." Theo reads the note and smiles. He says in effect "You'll never find him." The warden threatens to charge him with a crime if he knows anything about where Ethan is headed and Theo puts his hands together, palms together, offering to be cuffed.

There's another scene change and we see Theo getting out his car in a rain shower. Initially he covers his head with his suit jacket, but allows the suit to fall to the ground as he lifts his head into the rain. There's a voice over, of Ethan speaking the contents of the letter thanking Theo for helping Ethan connect to his daughter again.

One more scene change and we see Ethan working his way into the jungle on foot. Roll credits.
