Related to the novel Ismael or Ishmael ?

Let's not talk about the movie, it's mediocrity at its best (and one word: A Hopkins) ... But is there some evidence that it's related to the novel Ismael or Ishmael (sp?).

Quite good stuff in the novel although I never did understand the hype about it, way more interesting that the mediocre movie though.
