This is how i saw the movie...

Well, I must say that I loved this movie. And I especially liked the idea of showing that so very close relation between a man and animals. I also was very impressed by the scene with that gorilla trying to save Ethan... his look inspired me so much mercy... and the other gorillas were so sweet...
Another thing would be the Theo's attitude.. who has also played very good his role.
In my opionion, this movie is about descovering and trying to understand what is in someone's mind, and also fighting for this. Because we all have something special in our minds, but few of us know how to show it, and there are even less people who have the patience to discover others minds and souls. Theo is part of these few people...
Finally, the riot against stupid people that consider themselves powerfull, as it was the policeman. that man really sucked... and he is representative for a category of people... those who abuse of their authority and who want to be listened even then when they are wrong... and if you don't do like them, they'll make you regret this. Oh I hate these people.. And that's why i think that Ethan should have been more violent with that real beast. :D

I like how you noted that this movie showed the importance of getting into the mind of someone else (including non-human) to understand that point of view. Unfortunately in our western society people are rewarded for "playing the game" and being adept at manipulating others, but people who are sensitive (and more apt to listen and empathize) and good listeners are teased or criticized for being "overly sensitive" and "too quiet."
