It's a keeper alright

This is one of the reasons I'm still keeping my VCR alive. I can't let go of the VHS tape of Ghostkeeper, and don't really feel like tracking it down on DVD. This movie either strikes you REALLY right, or it strikes you REALLY wrong. It makes me feel like a little kid being told a ghost story. And I love that there isn't a single name actor who can be indentified with another film. It just seems a little bit authentic and tense.

Ahh, finally, another member on this board! NOBODY seems to have heard of this movie nor know it even exists, so I finally have someone who understands! I have the VHS tape as well, there's something about this movie that tends to get under my skin every time I watch it... it's a creepy movie, no doubt, and I agree about the cast being made up of unknown actors (albeit the guy who played Marty, who is a fairly successful big-budget movie producer these days) - it adds a sort of authenticity to it all. The acting ain't great by any means, but the movie is so darn atmospheric and spooky that it doesn't even matter.

Unlike with most older horror flicks I love, I'd actually LIKE to see a remake of this movie, but it would have to be done right - retain the atmosphere, maybe a little more character development, and a couple instances to freshen the plot a tad bit. I wouldn't want some big-budget, glossy remake with Disney channel stars or anything, you know. But I mean, geesh, was a great story!

It's got some nice twists and a killer ending to it all... I mean, that final shot with Jenny in the rocking chair is so chilling!

Truer words have never been spoken about the fear of a remake using Disney Channel stars to royally eff it up. Can you imagion Zach Efferon and Vanessa Hutchins playing ski-doers trapped in a creepy lodge and stalked by an elderly caretaker who might be played by a non-threatening Jane Seymour or Jessica Lange (the Hollywood version of being old and sinister, but still easy too look at)? Strangly enough, it does seem like the kind of thing fit for a remake since most horror films now seem to favor plots that involve about 4 actors trapped in one setting.

Funny you should ask, Ghostkeeper is going to be re-released later this year from a great 35mm print. The ones you get on the internet are awful and seeing as I wrote and directed Ghostkeeper, I'm finally glad someone discovered a 35mm print.

Also I just finished the screenplay for Ghostkeeper 2 and it is not Disney in the slightest, I read all the reviews, good and bad and learned from them. Also wrote/rewrote 18 produced movies since then so I like to think I'm a little better.

New script has the real cast of original GKPR coming back to the hotel. There will be more Windigo and another threat all in the same hotel again. Hoping to film in November 2011.

sorry no ...make another film about a wedigo by all means.

but never ever remake....

there is no such thing as atmosphere ...at least not organic atmosphere

from the moment they started to use those new cameras...atmosphere died.
Today's movie music also sucks and does nothing towards creating tension

besides ..why remake ?? older stuff looks and is way better

Dont use the old "it looks dated excuse" ..everythings dated ..last weeks move releases are dated.

dated is good sh*t ..ppl need to stop being shallow and take urselves back into the time period of the movie ..its easy to do

what sucks about movies todays ...its either really really mainstream which automatically means its *beep*

or its really really bad ..( think Mega piranha , shark tornado )

there is no in between
