Upon first watching this movie parts of the plot started to become familiar, then when they mentioned ‘Star Wolves’, and 'Varnans' it hit me, it had to have been loosely based on the books. It's not unheard of for writers to play it fast and loose with the story when the source material based on books, comics, or video games. IMHO, it may be under a different title and be very different, but this is a Star Wolf movie.
