PRETTY DAMN GOOD, CONSIDERING THE BUDGET!

First off, Aurora is not Lord of the Rings and nor did it have its budget. I caught Aurora at the Birmingham Sidewalk film festival. After reading the comments, I couldn't help but say a few things about the film myself. First, Aurora is not for everyone, but as far as independents go, it is a brave and remarkable endeavor. Shot on credit cards (under $100K) in the Southwest with a small cast and crew, one is completely taken away to this bleak and beautifully photographed world. The special effects are okay, the performances, fair to terrific and the story, captivating an moving. One critic noted that the narrative was lifted from the Scott story of the Antarctic. It is clearly inspired by that tale. The filmmaker is paying homage to Scott and his men! As far as micro budget films go, Aurora is a film to see. Expecting a big budget on this one, the critics are way too harsh.

I agree. A fantastic film, beautifully photographed, gripping story. Actors good and charismatic with plenty of emotion. Altogether a brilliant 9/10. Clearly not to everyone's taste - you'll have to watch it and make up your own mind but I would have been very upset if I'd read all the adverse comments and not watched the film and later found out how much I did love it.
