we need a GNW 08 entry

As title says we need a GNW 08 entry to discuss the new show

an excellent point.
I was midly disappointed that McDermott was required to cross promote Supernatural. sigh. I miss Julie McCrossin

I was mildly disappointed overall, to be honest. Paul seemed really reluctant to adlib or break away from the script, which I thought was a staple of the original. Hopefully it's just first-episode jitters and they get back into the swing of things soon.

I can see it gradually getting better.

Metathesiophobia was spot on about the first (and second) episode, Paul did seem reluctant to improvise which was a large part of the show's charm back in the day.
He seems happier straying from the script now - at least in tonight's episode - and doesn't seem to shush the guests quite as quickly if they're slightly off topic or leading to potential "adult themed" topics dreaded by channel ten. Such as Tom Gleeson's burning pubes comment. Loved it. And I was so happy to see the return of Buzzers of Death and that they didn't change the source from The Darwin Awards.

Here's hoping the series can only get better.

I've only just started watching this show. Just one question -- is it better or worse than the old series.

"Ooh, a level three! Did you call Jack Bauer?" Dr. House

I think it's about even as the original series. I'm starting to warm up to Clare Hooper instead of Julia who I used to love. It's good to see Paul is starting to loose his irreverant behaviour and cynical attitude more freely as the weeks go on.

Also, someone said about starting it up again - I find it amusing that now Mr. Howard has finished as our PM they've come back. They used to absolutely hate John Howard on that show.

Noticed this on TV by accident, seems strange to revive it after all this time. Didn't watch much of the ABC version but it didn't seem to transition that well to Channel 10.

The old abc episodes often featured Paul singing - usually in duet with Mark Trevorrow(sp?), but once it moved to channel ten it changed the game show format to more of a variety show, with popular music performers between rounds. It wasn't so great. But of course I still watched.
And I'd agree that it's probably about the same as it used to be when it was on channel ten, with the noticable difference of comedians having more regocnisable faces these days.

Still, some of the older abc episodes are just classics of comedy, there are a few segments floating around on youtube from back in the day. The guests and originals were a little less restricted by commercial tv standards, and it just had a more genuine, somewhat impulsive feel to it. Definitely worth checking out.

From what I've seen of the old series, it was a little more relaxed and impulsive. I remember seeing an episode where Paul randomly made a mean joke about the Packer family when Kate Fischer was a guest (and at the time, engaged to James Packer). He had to get up and back away as she got so mad she almost chased him around the stage. It was quite hilarious.

I'm glad that Paul has sung on the show again. It seems like just the right amount of singing. Don't want to get out of hand again with the whole variety show thing. But the couple of times he has sung on this new show have been awesome and much appreciated.

While I can see why Ted toned down the political aspect of the show, turning more attention to pop culture, I would be very disappointed if it got out of hand and turned into Night Lite or Weekend again.

Go take a step outside - see what’s shaking in the real world.
