Jason 's father

I do not think Jason 's father would have been that cold hearted, especially since it seem as if he too was a single father, after Jason's mother died. he totally turn his back on his own gradson?? and the stepmother, was acting like a total bitch... which makes me wonder what did he see in her in the first place to make him want to marry her. I understand tough love, and all that..but Jason father and step mother came across as sub-human..maybe him and his sister should have reminded them that they will be old one day, and will probably rot in the worse "Nursing" home in the world.

Agreed....his parents redefined "frosty". I can totally understand wanting Jason to assume responsibility for his child and his actions, but why take it out on the baby, their grandchild?? Why not make Jason first pay rent to stay there, and then help him find an apartment.

I think the reason why Jason father would not allow Jason and the baby to stay with them, was because his step-mother wouldn't allow it. But I wonder how Don ( Jason's father) could go along with the step-mother reasoning, let alone,How could he remain married to such a coldheart *beep*. I mean, that "HIS" son, and "HIS" grandparents. If Lillian ( Jason's step-mother) really love Don, she would have accept Jason and his child as her family as well. She would not have wanted , nor advise him to cut his only son out of his life so completely.

I agree with you. I watched this movie today, and after Jason got kicked out, there were hardly any scenes with Jason's father or stepmother. That was cold, and the father should have given Jason the benefit of the doubt. That stepmother was a selfish bitch, and Jason's father should have kicked HER out.

I feel the same way!!! I am watching it now and the part where the baby is crying and the step-mother is complaining tore my heart out! How could they let this tiny baby just scream and cry and not help him?

I disagree. I thought his father was being reasonable when he made Jason leave, but it looks like I'm in the minority... oh well, I would've done the same thing.

I don't think his father was being reasonable at all. Making Jason accept responsibility for his actions is one thing but kicking him out of house with no money, no place to go, no job, and while he has to look after his child is just cruel. What he should have done was let him stay and make him pay rent while he could look for a place to live and find a job. Instead it seemed like he was kicked out because his step-mom was a selfish bitch that would rather have her son-in-law out on the street with an infant than lose a single nights sleep.
