Paradise City Scene

It seems as if the people at the party don't know the song. Then the nerdy kid(Will I think his name is) is like "I know this song". Or is it that they just don't like it and it was seen as old-school? Just wondering. Because I graduated HS in 96 and everyone knew this song as it's a classic.

It varies by geography. I will give you an example, when I was going to school in Culver City, LA. You can sing ANY SONG and someone around you will know it too. I moved back to Washington state in a city called Arlington about 45 minutes north of Seattle. No one could trace any song beyond a 15 year mark.

Just my impression, but: I didn't think the people at the party didn't know the song.

When William said "I know this song!" he was surprised, because he's the sort of kid who doesn't follow rock music at all. "Mean Girls" includes essentially the same joke: "I love this song!" "I hate this song." "I know this song!"

FWIW, I agree that it would be pretty nearly impossible to believe that most kids wouldn't recognize that particulary song, at least in 1998.

I remember that was the scene that made me love this movie.

I'm confused about why Drew Barrymore died in this?
