Flop film...if it werent for James Woods

Im kinda dissappointed about this movie. It seemed rather pointless. Dont get me wrong...I like Larry Clark films. Actually, KIDS is my alltime fave. BULLY is a-ight. James Woods saved it. Most of the scenes with him made me laugh, cos he just do those things that only James Woods do. Seems like he got a free role from this. Whos the main actor anywayz? I must say...boy he sucked on acting! What was he doing?!...he wasnt doing anything. For me, he almost ruined everything. I think this film could have been great.

Whoa..Acting really is important (well..dah)

I am of the opposite opinion and thought Another Day in Paradise was an excellent film. James Woods is one of my favorite actors but I felt all actors involved gave great performances. I've watched other Larry Clark films and still like this one the best.

However, It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

Cheers!

well said. Agree with you. although I don't think this is Clark's best:
1. Kids
2. Bully
3. Another Day...
4. Teenage Caveman
5. Ken Park
(well above average watermark)
...

Cheers.

On the director's cut DVD there's a 20 minute interview with James Woods.
See it to believe it. It's more intense than the movie.
Clark is a hit and miss director. Woods is an actor who delivers every time. Even when he's cast in garbage or directed by morons.
His performance in this movie is pretty good considering the real world distractions he was dealing with. The rest of the cast are solid enough, and they seem to play their best scenes off Woods' natural energy.
A flawed film, but then so was Salvador. That doesn't prevent either movie from being a classic piece of observational cinema, populated by actors who can act.

... but you can say the same for a large number of the films he's been in... !

I'm usually not a Melanie Griffith fan, but I thought she was rather good in this movie. Woods though, was excellent.
