Vs requiem for a dream

i saw both Another day in paradise and requiem for a dream at about the same time. Requiem has all the following of being controversial and all that (compared to Hollywood that is) but i personally preferred ADIP. there are quite a few similarities, a couple trying to get through drug problems. but to me requiem was trying too hard to impact whereas ADIP contains the more naturalistic style associated with Clark, did anyone else feel the same or just basically have any comments on the comparison?

Requiem for a Dream is a better film than Another Day in Paradise.

RFAD and ADIP are both great films. I think ADIP is a more entertaining movie to watch while RFAD is a movie MEANT to impact your life some way or another.

Anyway, I havent seen ADIP for a while, but as far as i can remember i didnt see any cops in that movie. (maybe im wrong) But for those kind of people, run-ins with the police are almost inevitable. It seemed a bit unrealistic to me. But all in all it was a great movie.

Requiem is about drugs and how fast they can destroy your family, dreams and life.

Paradise is more about how there is no such thing as friendships or "family" in the crime world and eventually criminals will turn on each other in order to survive.

At least those are the messages I got from each movie. There is a lot of drug use in Paradise but I don't really think drugs is what this movie is about. It is money and the fear of being "fingered" which really drives James Wood's character and what puts him over the edge at the end.
