As much as I love Cate in the role, and in other films, I've been a fan of Emily for longer...since she was the initial pick for this film...who would have been interested to see her in the role? I wish she would be cast again, I think she would be stunning as the monarch.

She isn't regal enough. She's cute. Cate has that air of power that Emily Mortimer lacks. She was rightly cast as a lady-in-waiting.

Well not really, after all Mortimer played one of her maids, so I thought you'd mistaken my Emily for her. (ofcourse I like Mortimer as an actress too)

They aren't! My OP was about IF Watson had accepted the role as Elizabeth, as she was first choice.

I haven't seen acting ever but I guess she could have been a good choice
I really liked Cate Blanchett but I wanted to see Nicole Kidman in this role who was considered at the beginning but I liked Blanchet .

You know what they can still cast Emily Watson and Nicole Kidman
Elizabeth was such a fascinating queen that they could make thousand more about her and would be very interesting
