7.1 rating?? Japanese + TF fanboys STOP IT!
Just finished the series and I found the series VERY frustrating...despite the Decepticons living on a lifeless hulk of a planet (Charr) with virtually NO resources, they consistently had the upper hand THROUGHOUT 95% of the series!!!! Even the finale with the Autobots "winning" was very unsatisfying.
I like that Rodimus showed a bit more maturity then Season 3, but what kind of leader just up and leaves looking for a new "Cybertron" anyway??? This was a MAJOR cop out to get rid of MORE G1 characters and give the somewhat lifeless, soul-less and interchangeable Headmasters centerstage. Shoot, even GALVATRON stayed on the show way longer then Rodimus & co. As a reviewer already said, once most G1 characters left, the show quickly went DOWNHILL....other then Sixshot (to a degree) and Chromedome, none of the characters had any real substance! I guess this is typical of Japanese shows...as long as the toys are "visible" for you to buy & play with while you watch, character development can go to he11! And what's with Magnus going out like a little b!+ch??? Daniel also quickly (& conveniently) forgot about this & wanted to become best buds with Sixshot...ugh!
This series is definitely the "Creepshow 3" of the G1 series and SHOULD be considered non-canon! You can say "it was aimed at kids", but the writing was simply lazy and pales in comparison to the Sunbow series, even the short lived Season 4!
