Watching the series now courtesy of Shout Factory's release (thanks Shout)...

In the very first episode it was nice to see some older G1 characters that survived the movie...Hound, Sunstreaker, Jazz....Prowl!??!?! Didn't Prowl get killed in the assault on the shuttle going to Autobot City in the movie?? or does this ignore that in some way? or do we assume he survived?

My son (11 years old) who's JUST finished the entire G1 U.S. series was surprised himself seeing Prowl.

So, the movie was released later in Japan after Headmasters was already in production and airing. Prowl's appearance in the show was explained (years later) in some other source, maybe a Japanese comic as that not being the original Prowl. It involves some sort of convoluted time warp scenario.

I just chalk it up to another in the long list of errors in Transformers continuity.

Don't forget that in the movie, Shrapnel shows up after having been kicked out of Astrotrain. So I don't sweat it too much.
