This is like 2 other shows...

Just began watching this show, and already, it reminds me a great deal of "Agatha Christie's Miss Marple" programs as-well as the U.S. long-running series, "Murder, She Wrote". Now, keep in-mind that I am only a casual viewer of all three programs, and am by no means an expert on any of them. Also, I understand that all three of the shows have their own distinct origins. However, there does seem to be some influence between them.

So, for those of you who have seen more than one of the shows mentioned, do you think this show was influenced by Agatha Christie or "Murder, She Wrote" and which of the three programs is the best in your opinion?

I think all of these shows are influenced by Christie's Miss Marple. Angela Lansbury was tapped to play Jessica Fletcher after she had played Jane Marple in the film THE MIRROR CRACK'D. So it's no coincidence that these roles seem somewhat similar.

Check out Helen Hayes in a series of TV movies as Miss Marple-- she's just as good! And a decade earlier, she had teamed with Mildred Natwick for The Snoop Sisters (available on DVD).

Make that three. Hetty Wainthropp Investigates is similar to Keeping Up Appearances. I believe that Keeping Up Appearances was partially inspired from the original "Missing Persons" film even if one is a comedy and the other is a drama. There are many similarities.
