Did it get cancelled for the excessive violence, sex and nudity?

This was one of the most notorious, R-rated crime shows on UK television in the nineties.

I always thought that in other nations such as U.K. are much more tolerant of such things. (You do not seem to be tolerant, as you call it "excessive" when it is not.) I have seen much worse, even in the U.S.A. that had a lower rating (only PG) when it should have been a worse rating. Meanwhile there are plenty of R rated films that should not have been rated R. or otherwise censored when they should have never censored them.

I assume that Hetty Waintrhopp Investigates is canceled because they ran out of ideas. Having Robert's brother or whoever that was move in with them is when the programme changed.

I think you may have overlooked the OP's sarcasm, or else your sarcasm is so effective I can't spot it.

Hettie, as far as I've seen, is one of the most inoffensive and gentle shows there is, especially in the mystery genre. I'd go so far as to call it cozy. If the TV execs cancelled, it's more likely that it was thought to be too tame and not exciting enough for some viewers.

Om Shanti
