Jackie Chans Greatest fight scene?

Is the fight scene on top of the building in ''Who am I'' Jackie Chans greatest or does that title of greatest belong to another fight scene of his.

reply

Well in Jackie's autobiography "I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action". Jackie says his Top Ten Fights are(in order):

1. Jackie Chan vs. Benny "The Jet" Urquidez(final fight) in Wheels on Meals

2. Jackie Chan vs. Bad guys (final fight in the mall) in Police Story

3. Jackie Chan vs. Factory workers and Kenneth Lo(final fight) in The Legend of the Drunken Master (aka Drunken Master II)

4. Jackie Chan vs. Hwang Jang Lee(final fight) in Drunken Master

5. Jackie Chan vs. Benny "The Jet" Urquidez(final fight) in Dragons Forever

6. Jackie Chan vs. Bad guys (playground fight, middle of movie) in Police Story 2

7. Jackie Chan vs. Monks and Amazon Women(final fights) in Armor of God
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvionZFGBqA&search=jackie%20chan

8. Jackie Chan vs. Yuen Biao and HK policemen(the whole fight in general between the Coast Guard sailors and the Hong Kong police squad[beginning of movie]) in Project A.

9. Jackie Chan vs. Whang Inn Silk(final fight) in The Young Master

10. Jackie Chan vs. Vincent Lyn(final fight in wind tunnel with turbines) in Operation Condor

Most of these links show parts of the fights or the whole fights. THis should show you why Jackie picked them for his list. For the missing fight links, just type in Jackie Chan on www.youtube.com

Thats a pretty accurate list but i think the Who Am I fight should be on there instead of #10. Jackie mainly put it in there because of the trouble of fighting in the wind turbine with all the wires and stuff. While it is funny, its nowhere near as good as Who Am I fight.

I'd have to say his best fight is his first fight with Benny The Jet in Wheels on Meals. The second fight with Benny the Jet is really cool too but its a little short.

I personally think the entire scene involving the ladder fight in First Strike should be in that top 10. That scene was so awesome and memorable in many ways.

reply

I know it's a bit on the short side, but I really liked the one in City Hunter where Jackie is fighting two really tall guys. The figuring out how to win by watching Bruce Lee fight Kareem in Game of Death which just happens to be playing on the movie screen at the time.

The "Street Fighter" scene shortly after that is definitely a contender for his funniest fight.

POLICE STORY BEATS ALL FIGHTS IN EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE THERE IS GLASS A LOT OF GLASS TO MANY BAD GUYS AND THE HERO UNDER CONSTANT ATTACK WHY NOT JUST SSHOOT HIM
STILL THE BEST

reply

That's a great list of fight scenes man!

reply

Please keep in mind that "I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action" was released in 1997 before "Who Am I" so it's not possible for him to put a 1998 movie into the list in 1997.

reply

I agree, I loved seeing him fight on the top of the building against the asian guy and the dutch guy, who kept timing 30 seconds.

It is the truth that changes the lives of many

This is my second fav. Jackie Chan fight.

The first is the Mall Brawl from Police Story.

"We are dealing, with a madman." -Ichabod Crane, Sleepy Hollow.

reply

Awesome, but not the best. :)

reply

For a long time this was my fave, but since then I've seen Drunken Master 2 and that one tops it for me. It's also about on a par with the fight in Miracles that ends with Jackie catching the spinning fan blade. Also, I've come to appreciate some of his earlier fights like he fight against the Staff Lord in... ah... I forget whether it's Drunken Master or Snake in the Eagle's Shadow - I think it's one of those. The fight in Who Am I still ranks highly for me though. An well-shot, well executed fight with plenty of excitement and good moves.

reply

id probably say that my fav jackie chan fight is between the roof fight and the mall fight in police story. both are well done.

Another good one is the library fight in shanghai knights

reply

My favorite one is the fight between Jackie Chan and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez in Dragons Forever. Number two is the end fight of Wheels on meals. Again versus The Jet.
Number three must be the mall fight. And then its this who am i end fight and Drunken Master 2 end fight.

Almost all Jackie's fights are excellent though.

reply

I totally agree with huuliotus!!! Although the fighting scene in Young master, where Jackie fights policemen in a small buddha temple also absolutelly kicks DoubleAss!!!

reply

Yeah man - his hands are lightning fast with those swords in Young Master! Even watching it in slo-mo I could scarcely figure out exactly what moves he'd pulled off!

reply

just watched 10 minutes ago for the 5th time...not that great

I really like this scene as well. One of my favorite parts is when the Dutch guy takes off his coat and hangs it off of his foot. That was hilarious.

I researched that dutch actor on here and it was saying how he had some of the highest kicks in all of Europe. That and his stunt doubles in "who am I" were hard to find cause he was so tall.

reply

Lol he was actually doubled by Bradley Allen James(a JC stuntmen) that I believe is 5"4 or 5"6. He's shorter than Jackie so its funny when you see the doubled parts where Jackie's supposed to be fighting a tall guy but they changed the camera angles to try and hide it.

reply

Yeah - I still can't believe how long it took me to notice that!!! I just spotted it one day on the umpteenth viewing and burst into fits of laughter! I love BAJ though - he's bloody fast! Love the final fight in Gorgeous! A worthy addition to Jackie's stunt team

I agree with this fight being one of the best as well as all those others.

BUT, one that will ALWAYS be overlooked that I think is just awesome, is the fight in the Pachinko parlor in Thunderbolt.

I love it for the same reason I love the fight in Who Am I, Jackie takes on guys of the relatively same skill level and the fights are just awesome.

reply

But Jackie was heavily doubled for that scene. In fact, he's doubled in just about every fight in the film!

"Girl, I like penis."

Once of my favourite fights which hasn't yet been mentioned is the final fight in Heart Of The Dragon. Despensing with the comedy elements,Jackie is really mean and tough in this sequence,as he dispatches loads of bad guys in a derelict building. Samo Hung choroegraphed it,and the choreography is just superb,I think it's one of the best fights ever, although it's perhaps a little short for some.

I also like the runaway carriage fight in Mr Nice Guy,and the underwater fight in First Strike is underrated I think, especially in the Hong Kong version where it's several minutes longer.

reply

On top of the building was the ish! The asian guy had the hands, the dutch guy had the feet.

reply

yeah i was just thinking of the underwater fight in First Strike! I actually dont have that film cos i recorded it off tv when i was younger and saw it thousands of times. it's been a while though so im gonna have to get it!
It shocked me when someone up teh page said that Jackie was largely doubled for in the fights in Thunderbolt :O
so how much stuff does Jackie double for? i fugured hed have doubles for plenty of things but just simple stuff, not big fight scenes! was he injured or something?

reply

Yeah, he was injured on his ankle. He injured on the shooting of Rumble in the Bronx when he jumped on the hovercraft. You must have seen it in the deleted scenes.

He was very heavily doubled in Thunderbolt. I don't even consider them as Jackie Chan fights. They just happen to have Jackie here and there.

reply

Who Am I? has obviously the best fight scenes of any of Jackie Chan's modern/Americanized films and is one of the most enjoyable along with Shanghai Noon/Knights.
