A few questions (spoilers)

What's with that green weird slime? Why are they afraid of the rain, the water? Someone said they may be robots or something but i don't think so. When the maniac melted in the shower u couldn't see any metal or wires/cable. They came out always during the night, if they were robots they could of come out whenever they wanted to! Any suggestions? 🐭
