Milk and Bread?
Is that actually what he's eating in that scene where he's sitting in the kitchen?

shareYep, it seems so :) I'm amazed to see new comments on a movie this old. I just watched it tonight for the first time!
sharei just saw it for the first time recently and absolutely loved it (except the condo scene when he's such an jerk to her, kicking her out)! what did you think?
shareI'm watching it for the first time right now. I was surprised to see him eating the milk and bread. I haven't done that in years! Someone above mentioned cornbread. I think I'm the only one in my family who prefers milk and bread/cornbread to buttermilk and cornbread.
shareHe was right to kick her out. As he said, everyone was betting against him, including the person who should have been supporting him the most. He was an elite among elites, the game was his life. He was 40 and single, there was nothing but baseball in his life, all his life and he was trying to come back from a devastating injury. Sports is so much about confidence, and she was bringing him down.
This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.
It is bread. Costner said in an interview that he remembered his dad eating bread and milk growing up so he put it in the movie as a tribute to his dad.
shareMy mom ate that all the time.
