Why do they give out letter jackets to marching band? It's not a sport! We all know it!

It must be rooted in some bad experience you had in high school which mimics the general plot or a specific aspect of the film. Maybe you got beat out by a girl like Tracy for a student award or some other type of recognition and then she went on to graduate form a big college and marry a successful guy and they both make over 100K a year, or maybe you got picked on or beat down by a football player with wealth parents who drove a new car. Things like that can manifest itself later and a film like this can bring out the pain subconsciously.

Since no one is being mature in this topic i'll simply say the obvious: not all movies are for everyone. Sometimes movies with a consensus against them can be appreciated by a random person and vice versa for popular consensus films lacking something for specific people
