So what happens at the end?

Brendan and the girl are back together... but he's going to Thailand? Is B. straight again or is he going at it with Terry? What about Leo?

Brendan is definately trying it on with Terry, I don't really see Brendan as bisexual, he's more straight but just likes a bit of man now and then. As soon as Terry starts acting butch and wanting a fight, Brendan likes it so used his chat up line about going to get a real guiness.

Brendan moves back in with the girl. But according to the girl, it's a matter of convenience and friendship - they're no longer romantically involved. That's why she was free to smooch with Leo and why Brendan could make travel plans (?) with Terry.

I really loved this movie even with its sorta bittersweet ending. I'd say Brendan is bisexual as is Leo and Terry. Its really an interesting film to see most of the male characters end up as bisexual and its kinda refreshing. As a Bi man myself its so rare to see any film with bi characters portrayed as realistically and honestly as this movie. Plus James Purefoy is really hot. This is probably one of my favorite movies, never mind in this genre..

I think the film ends in a spirit of cautious optimism, but the characters are very much still trying to figure themselves out and explore what is essential and what is merely experimental. :) I respect Rose Troche's films in general because they're honest in addressing that some people are genuinely bisexual, not just trying to fit in with societal expectation or any subculture's (gay or straight) notions of self. This doesn't mean bisexuals can't form long-term relationships, just that they can date both genders in trying to find the elusive right person.

I agree! Eventhough I identify as gay I do feel that bi-sexuals are treated rather badly and this film covers prejudice face by both the gay and hetero worlds. The straight world views them as being slutty and the gay world fear that BIs make same-sex attraction look like a phase to the religous right,Jerry Falwell and other homophobes.

I always saw Brendan and Terry as bi, but even though he had the thing with Sally, I still thought Leo was gay. She was more of a... What-if situation then a complete change.

a lot of times, these are based on someone's life, so its possible that this is what actually happened (?)

the men's group leader had a lot of funny lines.. took himself SO seriously.
