Opening scenes - where were they filmed?

Despite never having read a Cookson, I really like these adaptations. The period detail is excellent, and although set in the North East (not here in Cornwall where I live), some scenes could be Newlyn School paintings come to life.
Can anyone tell me where they filmed the very first opening shots where the heroine is walking on a beach - a stunning bit of coast that I would love to visit one day.
