She-Ra Live Action Movie?!?!?

I was just wondering if anybody else would like to see a movie, like they did with He-Man years ago. I would pay a vast ammount of moey to see it!
But the all important question is....who would immortalise the Princess of Power on the big screen???

reply

Tough one. It's difficult to find an actress who looks like she could kick your ass, is still beautiful, and can act. God forbid it was someone like Dolph Lundgren, who looks the part but can't act his way out of a brown paper bag. I once saw a rumor about a year ago about Jennifer Garner playing She-Ra. I've never seen Alias or Daredevil; I've just seen her in 13 Going on 30, so I can't see it. There's Peta Wilson from La Femme Nikita. Rebecca Romjin (Stamos) kicked ass as Mystique, but I've never seen her in anything else, so I don't know if she's a good actress. I really like Angelina Jolie, but I don't know how she'd look as a blond.

reply

"I really like Angelina Jolie, but I don't know how she'd look as a blond."

Jolie looked alright as a blonde in Life or Something Like It, but I wouldn't want to see her playing She-Ra.

reply

After MALEFICENT, I think Jolie would make an intriguing Shadow Weaver, although I doubt she will play a character with any kind of similarity to Maleficent again.

reply

Back in 2004, Jennifer Garner would certainly have been vastly better than Sarah Michelle Gellar for Adora/She-Ra, comparatively speaking.

reply

Sad you think She-Ra was ever about "kicking your ass", she only fought as a last resort, just like He-Man. I never would have looked at her and said "there's someone who can kick my ass".

reply

How about Tea Leoni?

Please don't bite my head off for this sugjestion, but the Scooby-Doo's not withstanding, I like Sarah Michelle Geller for the roll. Granted she is a bit short, but She-Ra wore healed boots anyway so it could be worked out. She fits Adora perfectly.

reply

maybe smg as adora, but then somebody else as she-ra, but who i have no idea. i'm thinking orlando bloom as bow b/c both are excellent archers...maybe sharon stone as queen angella?

reply

Orlando Bloom is a man...

reply

[deleted]

Sharon Stone would be PERFECT as Queen Angella, but I don't think Orlando Bloom has the right body type for Bow, however good his archery skills may be.

reply

Sarah Michelle Gellar as She-Ra? Don't ruin one of the best cartoons for kids of the 80s! Don't get me wrong, I like some of her stuff, but as She-Ra? It would be horrible!

reply

I do have to agree with a few of you, Sarah Michelle has always impressed me as Buffy, but I hate when Actors become typecast, and I also don't see her being both Adora and She-Ra. But...I do like the idea of either Rebecca Romijn, or Scarlett Johansson...both very talented actors, and with faces that can do both Girly and warrior.

reply

Scarlett Johanssen (sp?) would be a inspired choice!

She is the best actress I could think of! :)

reply

i like sarah michelle geller for adora/she-ra!

reply

I like Scarlet for Glimmer or Entrapta! I prefer Sarah Michelle for she-ra/adora and I think Emily Watson wold make a great Queen Angella! Katherine Zeta or Emily Mortimer should be mermista!

Sharon Stone

I remember the He Man movie. I still have it and I'll watch every now and then. How sad is that? LOL!

Anyway: I would love She Ra to be a live action film. That would totally kick arse! I think Sarah Michelle Gellar would make an awsome She Ra. I mean we all ready know that she can kick butt because of Buffy.

reply

SMG would be good as both Adora and She-ra in my opinion. Do you agree with me in what i think ahould be the live action movie?
I think the original "Secret of the Sword" should be made into the live-action feature film. I saw "The Secret of the Sword" as a kid and have been trying to find it in stores or downloadable online to no avail. But, hey, I'd love to see who they set as Catra and Shadowweaver.
hope i get some replies.

reply

I downloaded Secret of the Sword from the Winmx file-share program. Free, great quality, great movie. Good Luck!

reply

I don't think SMG would go for it. Part of the reason could be is that she doesn't want to do action films after being on "Buffy" for so many years. However, I might be wrong about that since there are rumors that she might go in for the "Wonder Woman" movie that they are trying to do.

I think in order for the movie to work the lead actress must be able to change her character with her body and speech to be Adora and She-Ra. Right now, I can't picture who that could be.

reply

I bought a She Ra DVD, which included the movie Secret of the Sword and 5 TV episodes, from Best Buy.
They also have it for sale on their website, along with Season 1.

That was NOT a quote from
Moulin Rouge. That was a quote from the SONG Nature Boy that was IN Moulin Rouge.

Moulin Rouge was dogshit of the rainbow variety.

reply

How about Catherine Zeta-Jones?

No, really. .. it's her or Angelina Jolie, and I'm not too keen about Angie playing Adora.

Catherine Zeta-Jones might make a pretty decent Entrapta, although she could have arguably played Adora/She-Ra when she was younger, I'll admit.

I vote for Scarlett Johansson.

Back when this thread was started - which was over a decade ago - Milla Jovovich was by far the only actress who could have embodied and done justice to Adora and She-Ra!!!!! That's the only actress that came to my mind too when I first saw the OP's post.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Scarlett Johanssen would have been totally wrong, both physically and dramatically. Sarah looks AND sounds like any other girl in California, while Scarlett was/is devoid of the classical beauty/features that both Adora and She-Ra require.

reply

1st of all...this movie can't suck like the He-Man movie years ago.

Since some vote SMG as Adora/She-Ra, however the storyline has to involve Adam/He-Man too. Who would you choose these roles:

He-Man/She-Ra
Hordak:
etc.

reply

If you look at old pics of adora/she-ra; I see a lot of Rebecca Romijn in her face. I'm one of those wierdos that likes to see someone realitively close in the face, body etc. when I see cartoon go live action and I really think rebecca would be the way to go.

reply

Okay, here goes. This is a list of Actors I submit for your approval/scrutany. Say what you will, because these were just a few of the names I came out with, having a short time to think about it. Let the b**ching begin.

She-Ra/Adora- Rebecca Romjin or Bridgette Wilson
Hordak- Ron Pearlman/Kieth David
Skelator- Bruce Cambell/French Stewart
Shadow Weaver- Gina Torres/Selma Blair
Catra- Shanon Sossaman/Rozario Dawson
Queen Angela- Geena Davis/Sigorney Weaver
Scorpia- Milla Jovovich/Uma Thurman
Glimmer- Michelle Tractenburg/Rachel Leigh Cook
Bow- Ryan Renolds/Josh Hartnet
Madame Razz- Rue Maclanahan only
Sorcerous- Amber Benson/Donna Murphy/Christina Applegate
He-man/Adam- Here I just don't know, maybe Sean Bean, but he is kinda old.

reply

Sorcerous- Amber Benson/Donna Murphy/Christina Applegate

Ummm ... isn't The Sorceress supposed to be WISE?

reply

She-Ra/Adora-I will agree with them...

Hordak-Ooooooooooh Ron! KD, dunno.

Skelator-BC? OK yeah I'm seeing that. At least in the laugh and when something shocks Skelator his jaw drops...

Shadow Weaver-Not sure. So I'll agree with both.

Catra-Shannyn Sossamon? Hmm... or RD... I like both.

Queen Angela-How about Rene Russo? or Jodie Foster? Geena sounds good too.

Scorpia-Uma Yes!

Glimmer-Renee O'Connor?(Gabrielle on Xena) Michelle Trachtenberg looks good too.

Bow-I can see Bruce Campbell in this one. I can see RR and JH too.

Madame Razz-I was thinking (I hate to say this) Barbara Striesand. She was hilarious in MeetTheFockers. Maybe Rue.

Sorceress- Amber Benson/Donna Murphy/Christina Applegate
CA as the Sorceress? I'm not seeing it. She's too young IMO. AB or DM look like they could fit the role though, but not CA.

He-Man/Adam-Yeah sean bean is kinda old, we'd want the actress playing adora/she-ra to be about the same age. DEFINITELY don't want Dolph. How about Linden Ashby? (Johnny Cage from MK) Or... James Marsden? (at least as Adam)... jason Statham minus the accent? OR... Mark Wahlberg.

reply

Jodie Foster is an even better choice than Sharon Stone to play Queen Angella, actually. I can totally see it. :)

And Barbra Streisand as Madame Razz would be a hoot. She will definitely have the accent down, although I'm not sure if she would be as endearing as the cartoon character.

reply

[deleted]

Ron Pearlman would definitely still be a superb contender for Hordak.

But Uma Thurman as Scorpia? MUCH TOO BEAUTIFUL, especially back in 2005.

And I don't think Ryan Reynolds has the charisma to play someone like Bow.

reply

there is better special effects now

And it had a better plot period.....kidnapped and brainwashed twin gets back on the path to good and helps to fight against political suppression!! pretty cool when you realize this was aimed @ girls in the 1980's.

reply

I was thinking Sarah Michelle Geller as Adora, but a different actress as She-Ra.

reply

Shawn or Aaron Ashmore as Adam, and Jane Seymour as the Sorceress.

reply

"Glimmer- Michelle Tractenburg/Rachel Leigh Cook"

"Sorcerous- Amber Benson"

All excellant choices. I can see all of those working very well.

reply

I wouldn't mind a live action She-Ra movie so long as they don't do what they did with Masters of the Universe. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Masters of the Universe movie, but they took a sword and sorcery show and turned it into a sci-fi gun fight. He-Man never went around gunning down Skeletor's robots with a blaster, he always hacked them to pieces with his sword or beat them down with his bare hands. Anyways, I think a live action She-Ra movie would be great so long as they don't have She-Ra going after the Horde with a blaster in one hand and her sword gripped rather uselessly in the other hand, Like Dolph Lungren did. He could've done without the sword because he didn't hardly use it, except for two fight scenes. I do have to admit that the story in the Masters of the Universe movie was a typical He-Man plot, just the execution of said plot was almost a major departure from the He-Man story.

Bah weep granah weep nini bong!
Name the movie!

reply

I remember what they did with masters of the universe and then JEM. Horrible and inexcusable.
