Greetings Dunph,

What's happening? I got your letter today. Cornhole Academy sounds like it really sucks the big one. I can't believe they make everyone work a lot and not smoke. You should tell that piece of *beep* Funderturd to shove it. You didn't want to go there in the first place. He'd *beep* man. Today you should have seen me and Mousy today at school today. We got cocked on a pint of Blackberry brandy and ate some T.H.C. on the bus. We were *beep* This teacher, Mr. Rivera, goes -- "What's wrong with you Delaney?" I go, "I'm totally *beep* man!" Everybody laughed like a bastard. Oh man, you should - You should see this song I'm listenin' to, man. It's called, "Don't Bogart That Joint, My Friend." I think it's by a group called --

This is a couple of hours later. Must have nodded out, man. I gotta go, cause I'm probably definately gonna nod out again. You want me to send you some Squeef, or you got enough? Good luck not getting caught.

Cocked in Rhode Island,

Drugs.

P.S. Mousy says he stink-fingered Bunny Cote.

That's a great letter. I also like when Alec Baldwin asks Dunph:

"What are you doin?"
Dunph-Nothin

"Where you goin?"
Dunph-Out

"When you gonna be back?"
Dunph-Later

"Now was that so hard?"

Give me three stacks of high society

"aww, let me go and get my violin." - old man dunphy

reply

Totally.

It's not just how funny the letter is, but the way it's read in such a formal manner. I also love how Dunph keeps sliding down lower in his chair throughout the reading.

"How many indviduals named Drugs do you know?"

reply

Exactly! Best part of the movie, in my opinion. Totally brilliant.

"We plunged into the corniucopia, quivering with desire, in the ecstasy of unbridled avarice."

reply

It's the way the letter is read that makes it awesome, I totally agree. And, there was the part when the head master told Dunph that he had a letter from Drugs and Dunph aks "Drugs Delany?" The head master says something like, "How many people can you possibly know named Drugs?"

reply

I will ALWAYS think that scene is one of the funniest comedic scenes in ANY film EVER. I laugh harder each time I watch it [couple of hundred now]. And I agree on how Dunph keeps sinking lower and lower into his chair is the best comedic acting w/o lines that anyone has ever done...and to think that Shawn was so YOUNG in that film!!! He's an awesome actor though in case anyone hasn't noticed. Catch his scene in Dallas 362 when he realizes some bad news about his friend. He deserved an OSCAR for that part!!!! I hope to all that is holy that he gets an EMMY nod or award for his job in SouthLAnd. I'm so happy that TNT picked up that series. It's incredibly good!!!

Damn good movie, damn great scene.

How did a nitwit like you get so tasteful?

reply

haha it was a really great part in the movie. loved the song too, had to get the whole soundtrack in fact so I could hear the rest of the song "dont bogart that joint" lol
thanx for the exact letter though coolness man!!!

reply

Great scene. But don't forget that the editing also makes the scene. The cutting back and forth between Dunph, Drugs, the headmaster, and Funderbunk is classic. LMAO every time I watch it.

reply

I didn't really care for the movie, but I happen to think that the letter scene was one of the funniest moments I have ever seen in any film!

Funniest part for me hands down:

*drops bong*

"What's this contraption?"

"Uhhh.........a horn."

"Why don't you play a few notes."

I seriously laughed out loud so hard.

Very good movie.

I think I love this scene (and the movie in general) because it takes me back to a time that I could get "cocked" on a pint with a friend.....7 years after high school, its more like "hey bud, want to split a 5th?" at least...Good times, great movie!
