Rock Hudson

When Dunph's old man and his friends are playing cards at Christmas time, they are talking about Rock Hudson being gay. No one knew Rock Hudson was gay in 1974. I guess that should be added to the goofs.

"That's something you'll never hear from me, Capt. Butler, as long as you live"

Actually, that was kind of the point. The one guy who said he was gay thought that everyone was gay anyway, and none of them believed that Rock Hudson was gay. So it's kind of like an in-joke with the audience.

Hold on, I saw this on television once.

Guess that must have been a blonde day for me, thanks.

Well, I wouldn't say no one knew Rock Hudson was gay in 1974, but most likely these guys wouldn't. Of course, they did spend an inordinate amount of time obsessing about homosexuality, so perhaps they did some research.

While Rock Hudson was never publicly out during his lifetime, there were rumors about him being married to Jim Nabors back in the 70s. That's what the guys were talking about.
