SPOILERS - about opening stuff

I noticed that the special stone was in a briefcase, in a couple of boxes, wrapped in shredded paper, and that he had trouble opening every box, having to use a knife, then pawing through the wrapping.

Then he was given a box of saltine crackers, and he had to struggle to get that open, and then all he had for his effort was a bunch of soda crackers. Do you think there's a message there? Are the boxes a metaphor for his problems getting inside his own head? And when he does, it's not exactly a nutritious meal? :->

He had to struggle to open every box in the movie, including the saltines! Sheesh!
