Music From Movie

Ok, over the past few years, since watching this movie, I have run across a few of the songs played in the background. However, if any of you could help me find the rest of the songs, it would be greatly appreciated. So, here are the few that I have found...

Tenascious D - Jesus Ranch (while they are camping)

Better Than Ezra - A Cloak of Elvenkind (Serena waiting to be picked up by Tommy)

Fountains of Wayne - Sink to the Bottom

Sonic Youth - Diamond Sea (Later portions of credits is later portion of song)

Please help me find the rest of the songs in this movie... I even want the simple guitar parts on the score...

Hey I only know of one other song from the Totally 80's! party. It is Jerkin' Back 'N' Forth by Devo, that song always makes me laugh. Also, i'm pretty sure A cloak of Elvenkind is by Marcy Playground, not like it matters but.. just trying to help since it's one of my favorite movies. If you know of any new songs from the movie plz post a reply

Awesome... another track down...

Do you have any clue where I can get the instrumental tracks in the background?

reply

No idea, I've searched for a track list or soundtrack with no success. Why didn't list the songs in the credits? that is wack.

reply

Ive also been wondering about the "instrumental" tracks in the movie. The music during the "Pool" seen actualy!! Any idea?

reply

I bet the reason there is no soundtrack listed is they didn't pay the royalties or something, I noticed the opening sequence has been changed to some god awful music that doesn't fit the movie at all. You think in that situation they'd just hire some starving local band to do a few bass riffs that sound as similar to the original score as they can legally get away with rather than put heavy metal music in there. But find older copies of the movie if you can with the original music.

reply

I did a lyrics search on a couple songs,
Morcheeba- Shoulder Holsters (Fentin's party)
Jimi Hendrix- House Burning Down (Tommy shoots and breaks guitar) I'm not sure this song is Jimi Hendrix, sounds like it though. Can't find a place to download it to find out... know of anywhere to download free mp3's besides imesh or bearshare?

Comrades, don't forget Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" when Scott Caan puts the smoov moves on Alicia Witt in the diner and the Energy Club's "Lion Song" when Amy Locane brings her fancy new shoes to the dinner table........genius.

reply

Its not Everybody Loves the Sunshine, but "Searching" by Roy Ayers

reply

do you know the name of the song in the opening credits of the movie.....

reply

Yeah the first song played is actually "Sunday" by Sonic Youth..not "Diamond Sea"..they're both great songs though but I think "Sunday" is the only one in the movie..you can listen to it at the link below..hope this helps!

The opening credit song is ACTUALLY:

G-Song - Supergrass

Wow that's strange. I watched this movie repeatedly in the nineties and the most memorable part of the movie was Sonic Youth playing while the house was burning down. After reading your comment I jumped onto Netflix and sure enough, the song is different. Wtf?? Why would they change the song? Don't movies have to buy the rights before they even put songs in movies? Weird. I'm determined now to buy an older DVD with the original music just to make sure I'm not losing my mind!

reply

Finally got around to buying the dvd. Definitely was Sunday by Sonic Youth playing during the opening credits. Don't know why they had to change it on Netflix, but it's occurred on a few other movies I've watched on the site since then. Must be legal issues.

The music that's playing during the art show/party seems to sample the same cover of Gershwin's 'Summertime' as the Goldie Lookin' Chain's track "My DJ". However I can't find out what track that is so this doesn't really help much!

If anyone knows what the art show track is, I'd love to know.

One song I really liked was "Sky is Falling" or something like that from Bad Company. They played it when Jamie kennedy was shooting off his gun at Scott Caan and Alicia Witt.

reply

Its "The Sky is Burning" by Bad Company

i found a song that is pretty much exactly like the one in the LSD scence when Wilson's mom visits him. It is by the band Candiria called "Opposing Meter" and begins 10 minutes into the track, it begins with metal music but ends up with this. Good song. hope its the right one.

reply

Does anyone know the song that plays during the end credits while David's answering machine is playing all those voices???

Thanks

Nobody mentioned this one: feel the heartbeat by the Treacherous 3, when Serena woke up after being raped. I guess I'm not really a rap hater, I just like old vintage rap better.

It would seem that they have changed the opening credits song from sonic youth in the cable tv cut :(

reply

You sound just like me. I have been looking for the pedal steel guitar songs for years and cant find them. The song from the credits is by a band called Ivy-I've Got a Feeling. The intro song is by Supergrass-G Song.
