Harvey + Robert as Sam + Max

I'm a big LucasArts adventure games nut and a big fan of Sam & Max: Hit the Road. Although I haven't got a chance to read any of the S&M comics, after viewing all 15 episodes of Sam & Max: Freelance Police on VHS tapes, I'd have to say that I actually slightly prefer the voices of Atkin and Tinkler duo of the animation series to the voices of Farmer and Jameson of Hit the Road.

Don't get me wrong though. I LOVED the video game's voiceovers and they definitely have made a permanent imprint on mind as to how Sam & Max should sound like. But, after watching through the hilarious and uproarious animated adventures of S&M, I should confess that I feel more attached to the "new" voices now. I loaded up HTR yesterday on ScummVM and couldn't help myself but feel that Sam's voice now sounded a little too cynical and not as affable as Harvey's rendition. (But then again, maybe that's the whole point.) Max's voice, I thought, sounded edgier and far more unpredictable(crazier and more malevolent) on the cartoon, too. I loved it whenever he made those gnawing and growling noises.

So my point is, for the new S&M games now being developed by Telltale Games, I wouldn't mind having either set of voice actors doing the voices. (Or even mix 'n' match.) In my mind, they are both fantastic and did superb jobs in their own right.

That said, I'm eagerly anticipating for the new game and/or the DVD release of the old cartoons, or better yet, reairing/recreating episodes of Sam & Max cartoons on Cartoon Network's AdultSwim.

Steve Purcell rules!

"Hmmm... looks like a big plus sign. What could that possibly mean?"
