A cult classic?

A friend of mine mentioned that this film has become something of a cult-film in the course of the last few years. Is this true as far as you are concerned?

WEELLL

I remember seeing it twice years ago.I remember a movie that wasnt that good,it had all the bad dialogue to go with it.I wouldnt put it on my "favorite cult films" list. But then that just my opinion.Who knows,if I ever getta hold of another copy,I may watch it again.

This is definitely one of my favorite films...but I guess I might be biased since Richard Haines is my uncle. Still, it's a funny movie and pretty good considering the fact that it was all students. I gotta say that I like it. =)

It's one of my all time favorites. One of the most watchable movies ever made. Eveytime I watch it I find something new to check out.

Cult classic? I don't think that title really applies here. Although, it did come out on Elite disc DVD (which is at least a half-way respectable company, in terms of horror).

It's fun to watch with a load of friends or if you and your friends are loaded. The subplot of the pregnant girl who just ends up getting her throat slit is pretty priceless. And I do have to say there is one really good scene of self-awareness in the car at the drive-in when you hear a scream and the girl(?) is like "Well, it is a horror movie".

Thanks for the spoiler.

No, not true, the rules of the IMDB boards are to Put *SPOILER* in the title if it involves a spoiler...

secondly, I don't understsand the DVD. Its said that the director supervised the transfer of the movie and all, if thats the case, where the hell is the commentary, interviews, etc? If he's already in the studio, then record a commentary. I'd love to know how he ended up making such a horrible movie.

I didn't think this movie was that spectacular but I'm keeping it to complete my slasher collection. A cool title and VHS cover anyway.

*SPOILER*

I personally hated the ending. What's the point of a heroine if she just dies?

Why are you reading my signature?

reply

Obviously to shock the audience. The heroine died in "Psycho" too, albeit at the end of the first act. Here, the protagonist is murdered at the end, which is even more surprising since it was expected that she'd be the "final girl." It was the movie's way of sneering at what was becoming a slasher convention (keeping in mind that the bulk of it was shot in 1981).

this not cult worthy

TOO bad

Most 80s slashers have a cult following, so I wouldn't be surprised if this had one. I thought it was pretty decent, theres a lot worse out there.

reply

I think I first rented this in the late 90's because of the reference in Scream 2.
